Vehicle Description

1970 Porsche 911 T Targa
Blutorange / black
This 911 is not a study in preservation, it is the study in preservation.
For 135,000 miles showing and one small rust bubble, you wouldn't know that this car had ever been outside of the showroom in which it must have been delivered.
The few variations from a stock 1970 T are the following:
• Polished Fuchs alloy wheels
• 1973 exterior trim
• Engine cooling fan painted Chevrolet orange
• Bursch exhaust
Everything in this car speaks to the constant, diligent care by this car's original owner.
It has survived marriages and fluctuating economies. It has been acquired by us because the latest owner of 38 years is no longer able to enjoy the vehicle as he once did.
The windshield wipers are not installed because the car hasn't been driven in the rain for the last fifteen years. The interior is in excellent condition, with carpets showing a little bit of fading from original. The gauge faces are in above-average condition, with the speedometer / tachometer having been recently serviced at Palo Alto Speedometer.
The seat upholstery looks exceptional for its age and the seats feel as they should, but the underlying springwork could be freshened up a bit.
The drivetrain is original to the car. The engine starts without effort, idles and runs very strong. It has had a recent fluids service and is ready for a drive to the nearest concours where it will inevitably win. The 901 5-spd transmission shifts clean and smooth with no issues getting into or out of any gear.
The engine was overhauled in 1983 at just 78,000 miles by Scientific Automotive of Pasadena, CA.
A bondo-free body & paint repair was done to the right side of the vehicle to fix a low-speed scrape from a telephone pole guy-wire about 20 years ago. The repair work was done by Jerry Graham of Monterey, CA.
The paint is a 9.
The Targa top is as new.
The Targa 'sail' trim is brushed and perfect.
All of the glass is a 10 with the exception of a few rock chips in the windshield.
The brightwork is a 9+, remarkably well preserved.
The chrome on two of the wheels has very tiny pits.
The cigarette lighter is currently inop as is the passenger seat folding cable.
Toolkit is missing, but original jackstand is included.
All factory VIN stampings, plates and stickers are present.
The owner has ordered a COA from PCNA.
The vehicle has approximately 3,000 additional miles to what is currently showing on the odometer, per the statement given by the owner.
All the receipts for the vehicle's maintenance since new are included with the sale.
We are very pleased to be able to offer this museum-quality car for sale worldwide, which will be a welcomed addition to any significant Porsche collection. It is a car that can be driven, however, and its owner would appreciate that, too.
This car is as spectacular to see as it is to drive.
Please contact us if you have any further questions about this collector car.
