This car is race-ready. It needs nothing but fuel and a driver. It has been a race vehicle since the early '70s and is known by Vic Skirmants who did some work on the car in the early days.
This information comes from Vic Skirmants:
He has known of Roadster 88592 since it was first raced as well as the guys who built the car. A guy named Doug Miller was racing a Roadster back east with the group that Vic Skimants was racing with. Doug’s son Brad wanted to start racing and they found a Roadster that had rusty floors. They bought the car, started to make it into a race car and by 1973 they were racing it. In 1974, 88592 was sold to a guy named Clarence Catello who owned the car for only a short time and did not race it because he bought another roadster which was a national run-offs car from Bill Schmitt and which was already known to be fast. Vic knew this car was for sale and he had a client, Sam Weiner, a dentist, who was looking for such a car. So,Vic put Sam and 88592 together. Sam Raced the car until 1999.
Vic says they didn’t use log books back then, so he does back up Sam’s claim that he had no log books that came with the car. 88592 has been a race car since at least 1973.
In 2000, this car underwent a bare-metal, complete restoration by Emory Motorsports, McMinnville, OR.
It is a rolling work of art, the paint giving the impression of 50 years of originality. It is sleek and fast. It has been raced off and on for about six years.
There is a dent in the driver's side rocker panel and a dent in the right rear quarter panel.
Car has an aluminum hood and center-fill fuel cell.
• Engine - 1620 cc full-race built by ACE 356 / Arthur Conner. 145 hp with lots of torque throughout the rev range.
• Remanufactured Solex carburetors by Don Marks.
• Transmission - Modified main shaft. 2A, 3E, 3B, 4A, GT Limited-slip; aluminum solid front and rear trans mounts.
• Suspension - Wright de-cambered front spindles, Koni shocks, 19 mm front sway bar, Skirmants camber regulator, rear-suspension adjuster.
• Fuel System - Custom Fuel safe fuel cell, Carter high-flow fuel pump, regulator
• Electrical - Light-weight harness with quick disconnects at engine. 12-volt system, high-torque starter.
• Oil system - Full-flow oil system with Golan Billet alloy cleanable filter; front-mounted oil cooler
• Exterior - Lexan headlight lenses, Raydot mirror, Aluminum hood
• Interior - Alloy seats Fire System.
• Wheels and Brakes - 6 x 15 Fuchs with 205 60/ 15 Yokohama A038 DOT race tires, disc brakes with KFP Carbon brake pads.
• Weight = 1,620 lbs
